‘Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!’

Adventures of a Curious Character

Richard Feynman

Having read it

★★★★

Started off really well and was very promising in the context of revealing Feynman’s physics abilities and achievements. Mid-book was entertaining, especially about his attempts at learning to draw and paint and get good at drumming. By the end of the book it just became okay. Seeming partly like filler to make it a bit bulkier. An average end to an initially exciting autobiography.

A good passage

So the fellow who’d been talking to me was just checking at the last minute – husbands always like to prove their wives wrong – and he found out, as husbands often do, that his wife was quite right.
