The Tragedy of Great Power Politics
John J. Mearsheimer
Having read it
★★★☆☆
Well, there’s a lot of tragedy in power politics and, despite it starting off reasonably well, unfortunately, it was a bit of a challenge (if not burden) to keep wading through it all. To be honest, it also felt like it was a bit academically up its own backside as well. (That’s a higher education term by the way!) Some good perspectives and analysis, but it could have done with a decent editor who wasn’t willing to let the author have his own way! (Still, I imagine the actual editor of the book got bored and read something else!) Too many words obscuring the book’s points; must try harder at appealing to more people.
