Damascus Station

Having read it
★★★☆☆
Not quite sure what to make of it really. It had a bit of intrigue about it, amongst the somewhat typical and tired characters and setups and also just seemed somewhat wrapped up in (or caught by) its own analytical and, sometimes trying too hard, descriptive efforts at the expense of good editing, being about 100 to 150 pages shorter to allow a decent plot and pace to occur that could have also made it more of a page turner.
At the end of part three (of five) I skipped some bits and then realised, starting on part four, I just wasn’t bothered by what might happen, so, in a token gesture of ending the reading experience, just read the last chapter.
Anyway, after all that, here is a pithy quote that could go on its cover: Nothing special.
