Think I once tried The Pillars of the Earth, from the library back in the day, but gave up quite quickly with it, so am slightly surprised I read through all of this tome.

However, despite some reasonable moments of intrigue and action, overall it felt a little drawn out and mostly plodded along and could have been improved with some editing to get the page count down and a steadier pace built.
