A brilliant, life-affirming and humorous read which is all stitched together with an honesty and tenderness that lends the fiction plenty of truth.
A good passage
I often wonder what it would be like to be talented. Becca says what I do is a talent, how my attitude towards my work and how much I care about the dead is something rare and special. I don’t know about that. Surely that’s just having morals? Taking pride in your community? Becca can play the penny whistle and do the splits, but whenever is there a time to whip any of those out at a party? I think I’d rather be talentless than having one and never being able to show it.
Unless gambling’s my talent? Or losing money? I suppose there’s not many people in the world who can do that like me.
